Every Human Has Rights
The Elders-inspired Every Human Has Rights campaign reintroduced the Universal Declaration to millions of people around the world and united them in upholding the values that bind our human family.
In 1948 the newly formed United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; a global statement based on values of freedom, equality, dignity, tolerance, respect and shared responsibility.
The principles contained in the Universal Declaration are as important today as they were in 1948. Our world is still marked by inequality and division. Genocide is occurring again in Darfur. Discrimination against women and minorities is common. Poverty and exploitation trap billions in lives of despair.
The Elders continue to emphasise the importance of these fundamental rights in every aspect of their work. Read more at Every Human Has Rights.
