I remember as a teenager (living in Derry, N.Ireland at the height of the troubles) an adult saying "I doubt I'll see peace here in my lifetime". They did! Have faith in the desire for peace.
Seems obvious that Israel has given much and gained little. Has Hamas renounced its desire to destroy Israel? The international community needs to hold both sides accountable, not just Israel.
Overwhelmingly, the people of the Middle East want lives of peace and justice. The framework for resolution of differences is increasingly clear, and it is to be hoped that political leaders will take full advantage of this opportunity.
In our time, peace should not be a radical concept. Leading hearts and minds to believe that peace is the most natural choice will bring about lasting change.
