Life is precious everywhere. My prayers are with the elders and the good work they are doing.
Peace and Goodwill are always within reach but genuine reconciliation requires some letting go on both sides. I pray this opening of hearts will happen this year.
For there to be peace there is a need to recognise past pain. To heal the pain we need understanding. To succeed we need to know that all of our needs as fellow human beings are much the same.
Peace is like love: it can't be taken, it has to be given - and I am the one who has to make the first step.
May your visit give people in the Holy Land the courage to give peace to one another.

Grief can interrupt the abiity to build peaceful relationships. It can even obstruct the ability to see that possibility. Healing grief, then, is an integral part of the peacemaking process.
