Jimmy Carter and Lakhdar Brahimi in Sudan to support peace efforts

Two members of The Elders, former US President Jimmy Carter and former Algerian Foreign Minister Lakhdar Brahimi, met President Omar Al-Bashir in Khartoum today as part of a two-stage visit to support peace efforts in Sudan and South Sudan.

The Elders urge the Presidents of Sudan and South Sudan to return to the negotiating table

Only dialogue can avoid another humanitarian catastrophe

Following recent clashes along the border between Sudan and South Sudan, The Elders have warned of a potential humanitarian crisis and called on the two leaders to return to dialogue.

Humanitarian situation will deteriorate sharply in Sudan after expulsion of aid workers

The Elders warn that more than a million people in Sudan will suffer as a result of the government's decision to expel 13 international aid agencies and call on the international community to unite to address the worsening humanitarian situation in Sudan.
