Mary Robinson joins a panel debate on climate change and security at the Munich Security Conference 2017. Speaking alongside senior politicians from Finland, Bangladesh, Sweden and the US, she calls for leadership, including at the UN Security Council.

On 18 February, Mary Robinson joined a panel on climate change and security at the Munich Security Conference 2017.

Entitled "Climate Security: Good COP, Bad Cops", she was joined by

  • Sauli Niinistö (President, Republic of Finland),
  • Sheikh Hasina (Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, People's Republic of Bangladesh),
  • Margot Wallström (Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Sweden) and
  • Sheldon Whitehouse (Senator, Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, United States of America; Co-Chairman and Co-Founder, Bicameral Task Force on Climate Change and the Bipartisan Senate Oceans Caucus).

This discussion was introduced by Patricia Espinosa Cantellano (Executive Secretary, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) and moderated by Melinda Crane-Röhrs (Chief Political Correspondent, Deutsche Welle).
