Policy Adviser - Climate Change

The Elders are a group of independent leaders, brought together by Nelson Mandela in 2007, who use their collective experience and influence for peace, justice and human rights worldwide.

The Elders is seeking a Policy Adviser to lead The Elders’ political advocacy on climate change.  The post holder will deliver The Elders’ climate change work in line with the Foundation’s vision, mission and values. The post holder will be responsible for implementing The Elders’ climate change strategy, as well as proposing how this should evolve and change to ensure that The Elders is as effective as possible in its climate change advocacy.

The ideal candidate will be a senior climate change policy professional with significant experience and networks in political advocacy; this political advocacy experience can be from fields outside climate change, but direct expertise in climate change is required. They will be proactive, innovative, analytical, flexible, energetic and committed to the mission and values of The Elders. Critically, they will collaborate positively as part of a close-knit Secretariat, and whilst they will relish the influence that comes with this position, they should appreciate that most advocacy and front-facing work is done through the collective of Elders.
