






During their September 2009 trip to Cyprus, Elders Lakhdar Brahimi and Gro Brundtland visited Ankara and Athens to better understand the views of the island’s most important neighbours.

In Ankara they met President Abdullah Gül and Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek. In Athens they met Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis and opposition leader George Papandreou. They also had a lively exchange with Greek journalists, academics and think tank representatives working on the Cyprus problem.
