Daniel Medina

About

Daniel joined The Elders’ team in 2026 as Special Assistant to the Chair, Juan Manuel Santos, former President of Colombia. He is based in Bogotá, Colombia, and supports the Chair with policy briefings, strategic communications, and engagement across The Elders’ different thematic areas.

Prior to this, Daniel served as a Conflict Strategist in William Ury’s office, worked as a peace researcher for different think tanks, and was an advisor to former chief negotiator and Colombian Vice President Humberto de la Calle during his presidential campaign. Daniel also worked as part of President Santos’ communications office between 2015 and 2017, during the Colombian peace process.

Daniel is a political scientist and has an M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution from Columbia University, as well as an M.A. in Peacebuilding from Universidad de los Andes, where he is currently pursuing a PhD in Political Science. Outside work, Daniel enjoys live concerts, and practising yoga.
