Saran Koly

About

Saran joined the Elders in June 2024, where she leads and manages a team of four responsible for media relations and analysis, brand development, content production, and reputation management. During this period, she will focus particularly on a major communications project addressing existential threats and the leadership required to tackle them.

With nearly two decades of experience, including over a decade at the senior level, Saran has spearheaded advocacy and communications campaigns across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. A passionate advocate for creative, inclusive, and unconventional solutions, she brought a blend of creative spark and rigour, contributing to driving positive change in organisational culture. She has worked for UN agencies such as UNDP, WHO, UNHCR, and UNICEF, as well as NGOs like Transparency International and Equal Measures 2030, and the private sector including Africa50.

Outside of work, Saran is a retired indie print magazine maker, an intersectional feminist, an afro-optimist, a Rio Carnival samba dancer, and a narrative podcast lover. She firmly believes that "The world cannot solely be told through a western lens."
