The Elders’ 2024 Annual Review is now available to download

In 2024, The Elders welcomed Juan Manuel Santos as their new Chair and Congolese gynaecologist and Nobel Peace Laureate Denis Mukwege as the newest member of their group, bringing fresh momentum to their mission.

The Elders continued to put their strategy into action, addressing existential threats and the scourge of conflict through global engagement and high-level diplomacy. They spoke at the UN Security Council multiple times and met with 11 heads of state and government, including President Lula of Brazil and President Pezeshkian of Iran. They also met key global leaders such as UN Secretary-General António Guterres and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

Over the year, Elders travelled to 10 countries, contributing to key international discussions on their programme areas and promoting intergenerational dialogue through events in São Paulo and New York, where they elevated the voices of young changemakers.
