David, who started his role today, joins The Elders from WWF-UK, where he served as Chief Executive from 2007. He previously worked at Oxfam and at Transparency International, and started his career in the private sector.

He takes over from Andrew Whitley, who served as Interim CEO following the <st… of Lesley-Anne Knight in March 2016.

“I am delighted and honoured to join The Elders,” David said.

“Global conflicts, the existential challenge of climate change and the alarming rise of xenophobic nationalism all mean their clear moral voice must be heard and heeded more than ever. As Chief Executive I will be working with the Secretariat to support the Elders’ efforts and amplify their calls, now and in the future.”

The Elders also today welcomed the appointment of Edith Prak as the organisation’s new Director of Development. Edith joins the organisation from the Open University, and previously worked as the Deputy Director of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
