On 22 September, Mary Robinson will take part to the UN General Assembly side-event "Preventing and Ending Mass Atrocities: Tools for More Effective UN Security Council Action."
This panel discussion will address the progress made and remaining implementation challenges regarding two Codes of Conduct that UN Members endorsed to ensure a more effective UN Security Council action to prevent or end mass atrocities: the Accountability, Coherence and Transparency (ACT) group and the joint French/Mexicans initiative on voluntarily suspending the veto in situations of mass atrocities.
This event will be moderated by Mr. Simon Adams, Executive Director of the Global Centre for Responsibility to Protect.
